Richard III: Evil withstanding the test of time In the word-painting Richard III, theater director Richard Loncraine adapts the historical play of William Shakespeare into a 20th century setting. The costumes employ in the play depict a fascist era, in which Richard, with his perfect little quasi-Hitlerian mustache, represents the dictator, Hitler. Richard, the protagonist and the main villain declares at the very start of the play that he intends to stop at nothing to achieve his iniquitous desires. Richard is revealed by the film as an iniquity, corrupt, sadistic, and cruel person. However, despite his nefarious characteristics, he has a trance and manhoodipulative side that is shown passim the film. Loncraine reveals the character of Richard by dint of the utilization of sounds, release, and sights, and allows the audience to recognize the effects that power may withstand if it is not controlled. A variety of images are undetermined throughout the film which h ighlights the characteristics of Richard. The audience is overwhelmed with the countless actions executed by Richard. A perfect example would be when Richard grabs an apple and hurls it furiously at a boar. The scene before that occurrence was a man throwing apples nicely on the hay. In another scene, Richard persuades Anne, the tender widow woman of Prince Edward, to marry him by using absorbing language and gravid to kill himself if she declines. This scene allows the audience to line up astonished and impress by Richards manipulative ways. Loncraine use umteen various techniques in capturing the villainous character of Richard. He uses lighting to heighten the madness depicted by the many murders occurring throughout the film. The lighting is, for the most part, very enjoyable, happy and bright, even when rain is gushy outside.
